About me

Hi there. My name is ‘Stephanie Nemaric‘ and I am the Founder of Black and White Psychology. I believe that while psychological theories can be complex, the goal of therapy should be clear: to help you move from a place of distress to a life of clarity and purpose.

I understand that the “grey areas” of life trauma, relationship patterns, and emotional struggles can often feel overwhelming. My role is to walk alongside you, providing evidence based proven tools to help you navigate those challenges with utmost confidence.

FAQ

What can I expect in our first session?

Our initial 50-minute session is about understanding your story. We will discuss your concerns, history, and goals for therapy. It is also an opportunity for us to see if we are a good "fit" and to decide which therapeutic approach such as CBT, Schema Therapy, or DBT will be most effective for you.

Do I need a GP referral to see you?

No, you do not need a referral to book a session. However, if you wish to claim a rebate through Medicare, you will need a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP. Please email your referral to stephanie@blackandwhitepsychology.com.au prior to our first appointment.

How do Telehealth sessions work?

Telehealth sessions are conducted via a secure, encrypted video platform or over the phone. It offers the same clinical efficacy as in-person therapy but from the comfort and privacy of your own home.

Are sessions confidential?

Yes, within legal and safety limits, sessions are confidential. If you wish to release any information, a Consent to Release Information Form will be required for you to sign prior to releasing information.

How much does therapy cost?

Sessions cost $220. With a GP referral, you can claim $98.95 from Medicare.

How many sessions do I need?

This depends on what you are presenting with and your goals for therapy. While there are people who require short-term therapy of 6 to 10 sessions, there are others who require more than 20 sessions. During our first session, we will work together to develop a treatment plan and decide how many sessions would be required for you to attend.

Do you see WorkCover, TAC, VOCAT, NDIS or DVA clients?

I do not provide services for WorkCover, TAC or VOCAT clients.

I can provide services for self or plan managed NDIS and DVA clients.

What if we are not a good fit or I am not happy with the therapy?

That's okay, I will understand if we are not a good fit and I would prefer clients to be upfront about that rather than pushing through therapy. It is crucial to have a good relationship with your therapist. We can work together to find another therapeutic approach that suits you or provide recommendations for other therapists.

Do I need therapy even if life is going well?

Therapy is not only for difficult times in life or crisis moments. It is a space to develop self-awareness, resilience, improve relationships and learning skills to manage difficult life circumstances if they occur.

Do you accept same day bookings?

Unfortunately, I do not offer same day bookings. Clients will need to book their first session at least 7 days in advance.

Do you offer a free consultation call?

Yes, I offer a 15 minute free consultation call. The purpose of this call is to give you a broader understanding of what my services are, the fees involved and to answer any questions about my services.
